so, I have not kept up my fairly rigorous regime of daily oiling, non smoking, non drinking and here is what I have got. Let's be a little more specific before giving results, I have done no oiling, fairly consistent but quite a bit of drinking (little less than 2 shots a day on average), virtually no smoking and no barbells in the gym.
So, result is that it looks very similar to when I was very disciplined.

ok, have kept up with what I wanted to do for the last 6 days:
- No gym with weights to avoid pressure on the inside of the hands
- No heavy alcohol and no smoking
- 400 IU daily (started September 1st, 2016)
There are clearly good days and bad days but it's very difficult to find any patterns. Maybe it's just random in terms of how large/hard the nodules are and how flexible/stiff the fingers are. This morning the fingers felt very flexible and the nodules small.
I do strech very slightly my fingers but am aware that I do not want to aggrevate the nodules. Another issue is that my upper body seems to be getting weaker as I do not workout that much any more. I will get some tool so that I can do upper body workout more easily without needing a tight grip.
Looks all pretty good now.

I have stopped on August 1st as it was quite a bit of work to massage my hand and oil it on a daily basis. Both my ring fingers have a 20 degree angle but it does not seem to have gotten worse in the last 6 months.
My current plan is to use some alternative approaches and see if it has any impact on reducing the nodes or softening the nodes. The alternative approaches need to be low maintenance as otherwise I will not do them due to the unlikely improvement.
I'll keep up the following:

Gotten worse
So, made some not so positive experiences. One was that are a night of significant alcohol consumption and smoking my fingers seem to have become worse. Don't know if it's related but it seems to have happened the morning after a large party. Maybe the nicotine has an effect.
I also feel that the daily oiling is becoming a real chore and I have skipped a day as well thought abut stopping to see if it just gets better as I do not lift heavy weights in the gym. That's just wishful thinking I am sure. What would make sense though is to modify what I massage into the skin to make it progress faster.
For now, I'll just go ahead as usual.

Improvement
There is clearly some improvement. I have been diligently doing 2 x 5 min massage every day. The nodes seem to be softer and smaller. I am not sure but also, the ring finger seem to be straighter when having the left hand in the normal relaxed position.
It's very promising.

So, it's Friday night and I have been doing my light massage daily with one drop in each hand. For five minutes, each hand, I rubbed in the oil. This oil is expensive ($42 for 8 oz) but hopefully this means that there is something in it that helps.
In the gym I have not used anything that would put pressure on the inside of my hands.
On two days I suddenly felt a sensation in the hand during the day which was a strong sting in the area where the nodules are. It was just for a moment and I was kind of excited that something might be happening.
Overall, I am quite skeptical but it would be so fantastic if it really worked. If it does not work and I need true medical procedure that would bother me very much especially as the procedures seem to be very painful, the condition often recurs, it's expensive and has a big impact on my job.
